Originally from Saskatchewan, I have spent most of my life in Alberta. Growing up just outside of Edmonton, I loved playing sports, and played hockey, baseball, volleyball, and participated in track and field and cross-country running. With my love of sports, I decided to be a PE teacher after graduating from high school.

I attended the University of Alberta where I participated in their study abroad program and got my first taste of international travel. I spent four months in sunny Singapore, travelling around Southeast Asia on weekends and school holidays. I returned to Alberta long enough to finish my Bachelor of Education, and then left again to teach in the UK and later, Taiwan. Both teaching experiences were fantastic opportunities to learn about other cultures.

Upon returning to Alberta, I taught Social Studies and PE at Savanna School, a wonderful rural school. It was here that I met my husband, with whom I have two very busy boys. After teaching in Peace Wapiti School Division for numerous years, I took a position teaching Adult Literacy and ESL with the Dawson Creek Literacy Society, where I taught for 6 years.

I am now thrilled to be part of the talented team at SCcyber, as it allows me to combine my passions- teaching students of all ages and travel. Currently, my family and I are living in Costa Rica where we get to enjoy the sun, beach, and fresh tropical fruits on a daily basis. If you have questions about the course, or about life here in the tropics, please send me an email at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Hello! My name is Shawn Lawrence and I live in Calgary, Alberta. I am happily married and I have a 12-year-old son in junior high and 3-year-old black lab named Blue. While we have been in Calgary for over a decade, I still hold true to my Oilers, whereas other members of my family have opted to take allegiance with lesser teams.

I am a graduate of the University of Alberta with two bachelor degrees. I have a Bachelor of Science with a specialization in genetics as well as a Bachelor of Education in which I majored in biological sciences and minored in mathematics. I have taught junior and senior high science and math for the past fifteen years, mainly in the private system in Calgary. The focus of my most recent years as a teacher has been mainly in the subject of chemistry.

Outside of my professional career, most of my interests are sports related. I am an avid golfer and I love the game of basketball as well (although my age is allowing me to do less and less of the latter these days). I also enjoy playing racquet sports such as tennis, badminton, and table tennis with my family and friends.   My favorite activities also include hiking, mountain biking, skiing, and entering extreme obstacle races such as “The Spartan Race”. Some of my most cherished moments are being a proud dad in the stands at my son’s hockey and volleyball games.

I am definitely excited about the opportunity to teach and connect with math students in the on-line environment. While not completely new to e-learning, I know that I have a lot to learn and absorb as a new staff member at Sunchild. I am definitely looking forward to taking on this new challenge and journey in my life.

I am looking forward to being your instructor this year, so let's get to know each other shall we? My name is Ms. Linda Robinson and I have been with Sunchild E-Learning for over 10 years. I graduated from the University of Alberta and have been teaching for quite a few years now, including Red   Deer College for 5 years. My major in University was Instructional Technology and my minor was Aboriginal Studies, so this is really my dream job!

I live in Rocky Mountain House with my children, and we enjoy the outdoors.  My girls attended ScCyber and graduated from the program, one went on to Lethbridge College and graduated with her Registered Massage Therapy Diploma, and the other is in year 3 of the Bachelor of Education program at the University of Alberta.  Both graduated a year early because they were able to fast track through e-learning!

As a family, we enjoy the outdoors, ski (and snowboard), boat and love to treasure hunt.   I have discovered the joy of riding, and do that as much as I can when the weather is great.   I hope your year is a great year, and if you ever need to contact me, you can email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. I was born in Saskatoon and originally grew up on an acreage near the city where my parents did all sorts of hobby farming, and where I liked to skate on the rink in the back yard and pretend I was Wayne Gretzky.

Then we moved to Alberta where I went to high school in Lacombe, just north of Red Deer, and played defensive line on the football team.

I have lived in Edmonton, Calgary and Toronto and have taught at schools in Okotoks and Red Deer.

I enjoy taking trips to B.C to visit friends and to go hiking in the mountains. I particularly enjoy the area north of Vancouver near Whistler. Other hobbies include reading and creative writing and I actually got the chance to take a writing course from a Nobel Prizewinner. In the past, I have also done a fair amount of volunteer work with the Ponoka Youth Centre.

I have mostly taught Social Studies and English, but have also ended up teaching a few other courses along the way, such as Foods, where I and my students got to make everything from spinach and cheese pastry tohoney garlic ribs to cheesecake.

I currently live in Edmonton, Alberta, but most of my family still lives in the area north of Red Deer, where they have three wiener dogs, Waffles, Merci and Eddie.
